CASE STUDY
Students in Florida’s Martin County School District get individualized help with math and much more
The dilemma
Students were exhibiting math gaps across basic arithmetic and higher level math. Families were seeking extra help for students not only in math, but in reading, social studies, science and more—but many had no means of providing additional help.
Martin County SD: The Dilemma
“Parents wanted to help their students with every subject. Some parents don’t have access to tutors.”
Dr. Mary White
Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Martin County SD
Martin County SD: The Solution
The solution
The district’s administrators sought a solution that could be accessed equitably by the entire school community, would be easy & intuitive for students to use, and integrated with their existing technology. Martin SD chose Paper’s unlimited 24/7 Educational Support System.
“Paper gives all of our community members the option to support students with academics.”
George Vogeley
Coordinator of Digital Learning, Martin County SD
Implementation and rollout
Martin SD leveraged deployment templates provided by Paper, as well as the platform’s self-paced training components. The new 24/7 help option was promoted by teachers in the classroom, through direct training with parents and across social media. Adoption blossomed rapidly.
Martin County SD: Implementation and Rollout
“I actually have loved this deployment because it was so well planned. All we had to do was fill in the blanks.”

Martin County SD: Adoption
Paper in action
Students quickly took advantage of Paper’s 24/7, 1:1 support, especially in math. Both learners and teachers benefitted from Paper’s Essay Review, reducing the grading load on teachers and providing students with extra writing feedback. Teachers even incorporated Paper in the classroom.
“We see a lot of usage of [Live Help]. Another great benefit is Paper’s ability to review essays.”
George Vogeley
Coordinator of Digital Learning, Martin County SD
The impact
In just the first two months of usage, students engaged in more than 4,000 learning moments with Paper. Students who used the platform once have been coming back to use it again—a strong indicator of success. Feedback from families, students and teachers alike has been “phenomenal.”
Martin County SD: The Impact
“Our students have given Paper over 1,000 5-star reviews.”
